Drift Boat Trips
A drift boat is without a doubt the best platform to fly fish from on New England’s larger rivers. The boat’s flat floor allows you to stand up and cast, even in heavy, fast water, and you will have access to pools and lies that are inaccessible to wading fishermen.
We fish on the Androscoggin River in northern New Hampshire for rainbow, brook, and brown trout. Some of the most spectacular fishing occurs in late June during the Alder Fly hatch, where trout feed heavily on the swarms of big caddis.
What we provide
Boat, expert instruction, the best locations, and did we mention the shore lunch? Homespun recipes yield hearty fare that will keep your casting arm strong. If you need fly fishing equipment, it can be provided with advanced notice.
Price: $400 for a full day, which accommodates one or two people. You can also book a half day trip for $300. Reserve today…
What to bring
Always check with your guide before the trip, as weather conditions and water levels can affect what you should bring.
I’ve fished with Rick Estes (Owls Roost Outfitters) on several occasions. Rick is extremely knowledgeable and helpful on fly selection, productive pool locations, fly fishing techniques, etc. He has a great Hyde drift boat that’s really user friendly and comfortable.
Also Rick’s lunches are amazing in themselves; what a treat, always something unexpected.
I really can’t say enough about my experiences and I’m booking again for next year.
Rick’s a class act—TREAT YOURSELF.

This is short clip of Russ catching a sweet brookie on the Androscoggin River, in Errol, NH. Fishing from a drift boat is the best way to fish the Androscoggin because of the river’s size and depth.
