Drift Boat Trips
A drift boat is without a doubt the best platform to fly fish from on New England’s rivers. The boat’s flat floor allows you to stand up and cast, even in heavy, fast water, and you will have access to pools and lies that are inaccessible to wading fishermen.
We fish on the Androscoggin River in northern New Hampshire for rainbow, brook, and brown trout. Some of the most spectacular fishing occurs in late June during the Alder Fly hatch, where trout feed heavily on the swarms of big caddis.
We also dip our oars in the world-renowned East Outlet of the Kennebec River near Greenville, Maine, which serves up salmon and brook trout in abundance. Hooking these fellows from the middle of the river, or raising them up against the banks, is something more easily and enjoyably done in a drift boat than on foot.
